  • How do I decide on a menu for my event?

Begin by considering if your event will be held in the day or night, what season and what type of event your are having.  You can choose from the suggested menu items or customize any menu item to meet your desires and expectations. Call us to discuss your thoughts or criteria and let us collaborate with you to put together the perfect menu for your event.

How soon in advance should I start planning my event?

Typically, you should begin planning small events at least one month in advance, for large events such as weddings, you should begin at least six months in advance.  If you have been charged with planning an event inside these parameters, don't panic, call Wild Currant.  We have exceptional resources, staff and partners to help you in your situation.

How do I estimate the number of guests that will attend my event?

If you have an event that is not RSVP, you still need to know how much to prepare.  You don't want to prepare too little food not having enough for your guests, and you don't want to prepare too much risking wasted food (and money).

Here's an easy formula to determine how many people will show: Number of guests invited times .66 times 1.16.

    For example, 300 invited guess times .66 = 198 times 1.16 = 228 anticipated guests.

    Try it:    _____ invited guests X .66 = ______ X 1.16 = ______ anticipated guests!

What criteria should I consider in selecting a caterer?

Quality, service and value are three of the main items you should consider.  Your caterer should provide personalized service to make your event a success.  Of course, the price should fit within your budget.

What is the set-up time for events?

Formal events require 2-4 hours set up time and deliveries require 30 minutes to one hour set up.

Can you provide theme menus for a special occasion?

Theme events are a wonderful way to create a special day for your guests.  All of our standardized menu options can be customized or we can develop a custom menu specifically for your event.  We work with you to make sure your event is a plesure, not a stress.

Do you have a client reference list?

Yes, references are available.  Just Ask Doug!

How much of the clean up am I responsible for after an event?

Our staff will clean the food preparation and food service areas.  All other areas should be cleaned by the event site janitorial service.  Normally, the event site charges a deposit and clean-up fee which is usually a minimum amount as long as there is no structural damage.

    What markets do you cover?

Wild Currant caters to the entire Portland metropolitan region and surrounding areas.

How many hours does the staff remain at the event site?

Based on the number of guests and the services we provide, the staff can remain on site for 2 to 8 hours.  Typically, most large events have 3 to 5 hours food service time and the staff can remain an additional 2 to 3 hours if bar services are utilized.

What price range should I plan for?

Prices are based on menu selection on a per person basis.  Buffets are typically less expensive than seated dinners.  The price may increase based on the meal.  I.e., custom menu selections may be slightly more expensive.
